Men are more likely than women to use almost all types of illicit drugs, 13 and illicit drug use is more likely to result in emergency department visits or overdose deaths for men than for women. For most age groups, men have higher rates of use or dependence on illicit drugs and alcohol than do women. Similar to other addictive drugs, fewer females than males use marijuana. Research indicates that marijuana impairs spatial memory in women more than it does in men, 22,23 while males show a greater marijuana-induced high. Animal studies show that female rats are more sensitive to the rewarding, 29,30 pain-relieving, 31—33 and activity-altering 31,33,34 effects of marijuana's main active ingredient, deltatetrahydrocannabinol THC. Many of these differences have been attributed to the effects of sex hormones, 29,31,35—37 although rodent research also points to the possibility that there are sex differences in the functioning of the endocannabinoid system, the system of brain signaling where THC and other cannabinoids exert their actions. For both sexes, marijuana use disorder is associated with an increased risk of at least one other mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety.

Illegal Drugs
Sex On Cocaine
Having sex while using cocaine can result in a number of negative consequences. People who use cocaine often report an increased sex drive in addition to the more standard cocaine effects, such as euphoria, confidence, and increased energy. This strong desire for intimacy can lead to impulsiveness and poor decision making. Euphoria and heightened awareness, combined with increased sensory stimulation are just some of the ways that sex becomes more pleasurable on cocaine.
Introduction
A massive increase in the amount of crack cocaine being used by prostitutes is sending shock waves through the vice world, The Observer can reveal. Prostitutes have traditionally been heroin users, but in an attempt to maximise their profits crack dealers and pimps are deliberately targeting the streetwalkers. Switching to the highly addictive drug has made many prostitutes so desperate for their next fix that they have lowered their prices. One drugs liaison officer told The Observer: 'When you mix crack and prostitution it becomes a hour cycle. You go out and you work long enough to go and get a rock, then you go away and use it and then you go out and do the same all over again. Eventually you need some sleep, so you take heroin in order to come down. Then you wake up and it starts all over again.
